The Change Maker: A Vision for Positive Change

The Change Maker is a program of Millennium Support Services (MSS) together with its sister company Grooming The Executive – NPC (GTE). It is one of the offerings under the MSS Enterprise Supplier Development (ESD), which aims at, among other things, positioning as many SMEs and young people with the desire to venture into business, to access opportunities as well as access to market

The program is a key driver in ensuring that each and every community, no matter how far flung into the deep rural it may be.

Through this program, MSS is driving an aggressive enrolment of mostly young unemployed people, who are determined to make a difference in their various communities.

Each community will be allowed between Two (2) and Three (3) Change Maker candidates at any given time.

Through this program, MSS is driving an aggressive enrolment of mostly young unemployed people, who are determined to make a difference in their various communities.

Who can participate

To register onto the program, the applicants should fulfil the following requirements:

Be a South African or an Foreign national with legal documentations and allowed by law to participate in similar programs.
Be between the ages of 18 – 35 years
They need to have successfully completed Matric and in possession of an authentic certificate
Are desirous of exploring business opportunities as one of the options to earn a living, and not only hope for employment
Are willing to drive impactful change for the benefit of their community

How to participate

The participants are not necessarily recruited, they “raise a hand”, nominate themselves to drive change in their own communities. To be accepted onto the program, the candidates motivate why they should be given a chance to be the Change Maker Participant:

MSS will establish the best way to appoint the deserving candidates, who meet the requirements, and be assigned MSS #ChangeMaker, as well as Head of Community projects in their respective communities
This is a Two (2) year opportunity and there after the recruitment / contestation kicks in and the new process starts again

IMPORTANT TO NOTE:

The applicant has to provide at least One Hundred (100) signatures from community members who pledge to support them as change makers candidate should they be appointed.

There is NO cost to being a Change Maker, however the participants would have to purchase the #ChangeMaker Apparels for uniform.

Outcomes of the program

All OUTCOMES

Address matters of unemployment within communities

Through business-driven campaign Change Makers will facilitate access to information to their respective communities and assist to mitigate the lack of business ownership interest and mindset seen amongst our young, and encourage them to address the current unemployment dilemma.

Drive access to basic needs

Be a point of contact in facilitating access to basic needs in a cost-effective manner. Assist communities to access good quality products, especially food and health products which are priced to benefit the many.

Communicate developments and opportunities

a. Ensure that their own communities are not left behind due to lack of access to information, especially on economic opportunities

b. Assist in accurately diagnosing the challenges faced by their community members, that way assisting MSS to differentiate community needs and not assume the type of solutions they need

c. Identify possible opportunities directly linked to the communities, so as for MSS to conduct proper analysis and test their viability for the benefit of the communities

Earning A Living & Personal Development

MSS Change Maker role is not an employment role. It is a volunteer role. It may however come with economic participation;

a. Earn commissions from proceeds of sales from – Commodities and programs purchased by communities

b. Placed into a business development coaching in preparation for business opportunities they may elect to pursue
